This post is not meant to be a creation of me as an individual. By writing this, I act as a representive for the Administrators of the Noble-Story Staff.
The time has come.
The administrators of the Noble-Staff have ultimately decided to end the project of Noble-Story.
On May 1st, at 11:59 pm PST, the server will close its gates. You will no longer be able to connect to the game at that time.
Noble-Story will permanently be shut down. It is not going to be back online at any time in the future.
I shall briefly explain how we have come to this conclusion, and what the parallels to the recent rumor of a server wipe are.
Over the past few weeks, Noble-Story hasn't been doing well. There weren't many players online; those who were have been rather unmotivated to chase after any in-game goals and mostly chose to afk in the FM instead. Furthermore, we have noticed several personal disputes between certain members of the community, which affected other players' opinions and the general mood of the server.
Meanwhile, the situation hasn't been much different inside the Noble-Staff either. Many of us have lost the motivation to continue development, and have just been trying to keep it up the way it was, no matter what. This has been the case for quite some time already. In addition to that, multiple members of our team were/are about to leave for whatever reasons, and the gaps that will be created cannot be filled so easily.
Having the project on stagnation forever is no solution. We have tried to look forward to a brighter future several times, yet it was never in our reach.
Lastly, we shall not forget that everyone has also to take care of other important matters outside of the game; even members of the Noble-Staff are not unharmed by that.
There is nothing like one single, striking reason for our conclusion. It's the entity of all factors together, that forced us to make this decision.
We don't know who has initially started spreading the rumor of Noble-Story going through a server wipe. Maybe we had a black sheep among the Staff team, or just some random player had too much spare time and decided to fantasize about the future. We will not point our fingers at anyone, nor would it matter by now. A server wipe means that everyone's game progress (characters, Items, Mesos, NX cash, ...) is reset, while the server files remain the same. You could just call it starting a new round. As mentioned dozens of times before: "There will not be a server wipe on Noble-Story". This statement remains true because we are not simply deleting everyone's data just to start the gameplay from scratch. There wouldn't be any benefits from that in our point of view. However, certain Staff members have been discussing to start development of a completely new server, if we ever got to the point when Noble-Story will completely retire. Yet, there is no confirmed information about such projects at all. Even the administrative Staff members cannot verify anything. If anything of that ever gets true, you might or might not recognize it when the time comes.
Now, we have some final words for our players.
First of all, we sincerely apologize for announcing the end of Noble-Story all of a sudden. We have been very undecided ourselves whether to keep it going or not. This decision wasn't really fun to make.
During a sever uptime of nearly 3 years, we have experienced good times and bad times. We all were able to meet lots of different people by being a part of this community. The one or another among us might have been able to forge some new friendships, which will remain stable even without the support of Noble-Story. We have been able to create lots of new memories, such as feeling the nostalgia of the game, laughing together with friends or finally beating contents of the game that you haven't been able before. All of that shall always remain in our hearts; and there is nothing that could ever take it away from us. As long as we remember, Noble-Story will live on.
The Noble-Story Staff thanks you for a wonderful time and wishes everyone the best for their future, whatever your personal goals may be!

Take care all. Met a lot of friends I still talk to today, got to highest level I ever got in a PS. Thank you for memories, I have over 3000 screenshots from Noble, keeping them forever.

But I suppose now it's time to Turn the Page and begin a new chapter. "Shock" and "sadness" don't even begin to describe my feelings of this news. I suppose everyone should see it coming in the future, but a server shut down is akin to death; we all expect it some day, but we never knew when it would happen.
I was contemplating going back to DDO. Guess this seals the deal then.
But I suppose I should thank the staff here first. My desire back in January was to find a server which brought back the memories of a nostalgic MapleStory experience. This one more than satisfied, and even though I'm burnt out from Maple now and have had all the satisfaction I could ask for, I'm happy with the time I had here.

The site would go offline once the VPS itself expires (either that or it's turned off beforehand), but the forums will still be up.

Thank you for the memories. From my experiences as both a player and staff member, I have met a number of wonderful individuals, who taught me so much and got me really interested in various areas outside of just this game. These have paved the way for how the rest of my life has and will play out. For that, I am forever grateful. While looking through the remaining screenshots I have from NobleStory, it saddens me how few I still have relative to how much time I spent there, especially screenshots with others in the community. In hindsight, that was always a downfall of mine, and I regret putting all of my time into being a staff member, as I lost out on a number of the moments experienced by regular players in a small community. I logged in for a bit earlier, and set up a Firecracker in the FM since that was pretty much the only thing I could buy with my remaining 400 NX. Unfortunately I won't have the time in my schedule to be there during the final moments, but I do hope that everybody who had a chance to play during the past 2 and a half years have had an enjoyable time, and that none of the work that I or any other staff members, both past and present, have put in has been in vain. As for the forum, (as the forum creator) I have no plans to take it down so if you ever want to re-visit an old post or attempt to contact a friend, you should be able to do so. I've also changed some of the forum permissions so they are a bit less stringent (This is something I'd also recommend for Adam SdwSlyr606 to do on the old forum so people can visit and view past threads or attempt to contact old friends). With that being said... Going to really  seeing NobleStory around. |

Well... under normal circumstances I'd react like "OMFG NOOOO DIS IS A LIE??!! PLZ DON'T DO IT", but not now.  I ended my long way (as the signature says, I'm here from 7/2012 making me one of the most veteran players here besides Kalyb, Adam and a few others F3) here a couple of weeks ago, maybe a month ago, who remembers anyways. I'd say sorry for disappearing in sudden w/o saying a word, but hey, Ace did it too when it came to this server closing F3,and as he mentioned, I have also to take care of other real life important matters outside of the game F3. So instead of writing all of this shit below in a farewell forum thread, I'll write it now. Thank you for all of the three wonderful years being in this server. for all the memories, the good (and also for the bad ) experiences, the friends that I met here and I won't forget. Thank you for bringing back the real Maplestory experience that I had several years before I joined and for making a simple game something beyond just a game, something like 2nd (virtual ) home. I had like 3000+ screenshots from all the time being here and I promise I'll keep them forever  and sorry Adam for not making our planned Horntail run..... (inb4 I never did it a GMS F3) Here I finished all of the stuffs related not to Noble only, but from Maplestory in general, life being too short to spend them on Maplestory If the server would keep running I would've been write a better quitting thread with farewells to everyone I met but the server is going down forcing all of us to quit, so.... I'd have to say Good bye to everyone here. Good bye Noble. Good bye MapleStory, for ever.
