How many hours would you be willing to devote to the server?
I am logging into the game and the forums on a daily basis. Roughly estimated 2-8h, might exceed these limits on unusual days.
How long have you played NobleStory (or any previous incarnation of NobleStory)?
Registered my account on November 13th, 2013. Actively playing since March 2014.
How long have you played MapleStory in general?
Started with Maplestory Europe back in October 2008.
Have you played any other MapleStory private servers? If so, which ones and for how long?
HaruSEA (Sep 2012 - Mar 2013), MapleFables (Mar 2013 - Aug 2013), Merry-Joy (Jan 2014 - Feb 2014)
Have you been a staff member on any other MapleStory private servers? If so, which ones and for how long?
No.
What other MMORPG(s) do you play besides MapleStory?
None.
Are you in school or working?
I am going to university and major in mechanical engineering.
What do you like most about NobleStory?
Noble-Story offers players to relive their MapleStory nostalgia. Besides that, the custom contents open up vast possibilites to experience the game on a new level once the original catch of the game has worn out - without breaking the game.
The active development and frequently hosted core-events show a continous dedication from both, players and staff, to the server. Last but not least, the majority of the playerbase follows the simple pattern: quality > quantity. Most of the people know how to properly behave and play in unison with the others.
Why do you want to work with us?
I want to continue working with you (on a new level) because i like to be a part of the project and support you with all i've got. The few tasks that i've been part of so far were enjoyable. I honestly think Noble-Story needs some improvements here and there.
What skills can you bring with you to the server (e.g. Coding, Database Management, GFX, Video, etc.)?
.wz file editing, essentials in GM commands and DB management (thanks to my test-server), remnants of Java and HTML knowledge from school (definitely needs to be refreshed, but not impossible)
What do you think needs to be improved on the server, and how would you go about improving it?
I support what many players have stated a multiple times: the communication between playerbase and Staff-members. But that alone won't do it. There has to be an overall enhanced organization in the whole project. This encludes, but is not limited to: updates, (seasonal) events, possible advertising, internal Staff business, etc...
Any final comments?
You might wonder why would i write an application to the Noble-Story Staff while i am already a part of it.
It's mainly because of the fact that i didn't have to provide one in the first place to get to where i am now. Back in the days when Nina was still actively developing for Noble-Story, we happened to have a few discussions about possible modifications to the server. One of them being edited .wz files. I offered my help on those since i had a decent knowledge of how to do it and i knew that some files might result in quite a lot of work. I got myself involved in the whole thing quite fast and became the .wz editor for Noble-Story.
Besides that, i am now applying for a GM job too because it would synergize well with what i am currently doing. I could test the newly edited .wz files before they finally get released; along with the detailed skill-testing which i require to work on my future skill balance patch. The test-server which i managed to set up recently does indeed offer me possibilities to enhance my work, yet fails in several aspects. One of them being the fact that many contents are not properly working, or not coded at all. I do not have the knowledge nor the time to replicate all of the Noble-Story server files on my own.
Furthermore, it would make the organization of the iSpy event, which i am currently in charge of, a lot easier and faster. It wouldn't work as well as it does by now, if Will didn't take care of handing out the rewards.
In the past, i explained to a few Staff-members why i wasn't willing to apply; until now. I realized i've gotten too far into the project already to deny to take this one step forward.
Last but not least, it hasn't been fair to the others who had to provide an application in order to get their position, while i was offered the job instead. I am still a player too, afterall. So here it is.
As always, thank you for reading.
